I am delighted to send this message to all the students especially the fresh students through this publication.
Firstly, I wish to welcome both the returning and fresh students to campus for the 2013/2014 session. I wish to congratulate the returning students on their success at the 2012/2013 session's examination. I also share the same joy with the fresh students on their admission to the university this session.
The need to provide both the fresh and returning students with adequate and up-to-date information on activities of the university as well as the need to bridge communication gap informed the review of the existing students handbook. The standard and content of the publication makes it the authoritative source of information necessary, for the guidance of all students while their stay lasts in the university. .
I wish to use this opportunity to remind all students that cultism is an abomination in this university. You must therefore shun it. I also want to inform all fresh students that there are approved social clubs and leadership training organizations in the university to which they can seek membership if they so desire. For example, there are the-Man 'O' War Club, the Red Cross Society, the Anti-Cult Crusade Organization of Nigeria (ACCON), The Reformer Academy, Road Accident Prevention Club of Nigeria (RAPCON), etc. which can help build up your leadership potentials. Interested students who wish to take advantage of the existence of these social clubs are advised to contact the Students Affairs Division for guidance. It is our expectation that all your energies, time and resources will be directed always to things that are noble and constructive.
This publication also provides you with information on possible academic and sports honours that you can win through excellence in academic and sporting endeavours.
Finally, I welcome you to Ekpoma and pray that you have a memorable stay in the university.
